Red Cross Babysitting Course
The popular American Red Cross Babysitting Course returns on Saturday, September 18 to Club Sienna. This day long course, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., designed specifically for youth ages 11 - 16, will focus on skills training including: leadership, basic care, safety measures, safe play, and basic first aid. These skills will allow any teen to effectively care for infants and small children. Course fee is $80 and includes a pizza lunch. Participants can register at Club Sienna or via phone at 281/778-CLUB. Space is limited, so be sure to register early (credit card or check only, no cash).
Let’s Get CREATIVE: On a Canvas
Beginning in October, residents will have the opportunity to get your creative, artistic juices flowing at Club Sienna with painting classes with local artist and Sienna resident Robyn Miller. Residents will learn the nuances of art and you will develop your masterpiece! Three different sessions will be offered, each focusing on a specific age group. Beginning Painting for Teens and Beginning Painting for Active Adults will focus on the elements of basic drawing and acrylic painting, as well as the basic art principles (line, shape, volume, light, value, color, texture, space). Students will become familiar with acrylic paint and mixing our colors. Students will paint a still life for their first assignment, using quick drawing and then acrylic on canvas.
Beginning Painting for Teens - Ages 13 - 18 years: Thursday evenings, 5 - 6 p.m. Registration is $75 per resident teen plus materials; $93.75 per non-resident teen, plus materials. After School Art for Youth will focus on the basic principles and fundamentals of art while exploring a variety of mediums and technique (i.e.: color, shape, form, balance, rhythm, etc.). Art history, artist biography and how art relates to our world are often covered. Students will be given the freedom to experience ‘hands on’ art style and technique, and will be encouraged to ‘think outside the box’.
After School Art (no experience necessary): Kindergarten - Fifth grade: Tuesday afternoons, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Registration is $75 per resident child plus materials; $93.75 per non-resident child plus materials. Do you find yourself watching cake decorating shows saying ‘I could do that!’? Well, you can - and we’re going to help you do it! Beginning this October, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from a local cake decorator extraordinaire who will help you go from good to great, turning your fresh out of the oven baked goodie into a magnificent masterpiece, a delectable delight! If you have a passion for pastries, register for the all-new beginnerís cake decorating course and hone your skills! Classes are for Sienna adults, age 21+ and will be held at Club Siennaon Monday mornings, fromn9 - 11 a.m. Registration is $60 per person plus materials, for residents; $75 per person plus materials for non-residents. Unleash Your Inner Rock Star!
Do you have an incredible love and appreciation for music, but don’t currently know how to play any of the instruments you admire so much? Let’s solve that...NOW! SPRAI is bringing private guitar AND drum lessons right to you at Club Sienna. Lessons will begin this October with instructors with extensive experience and have taughthundreds to unleash their inner rock star. Each session is broken up by age group. Active Adult Movie Night: Avatar; Friday, September 10
Do you enjoy going to the movies, but you don’t necessarily enjoy the crowds? Well, now you can bring your favoritefolding chair, relax, and enjoy a movie at Club Sienna. SPRAI is excited to kick off our new Active Adult (50+) monthly movie series on Friday, September 10, at 6 p.m., with a showing of Avatar (rated PG-13, 2 hours, 42 minutes). Nominated for 9 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Avatar is the highest-grossing movie of all time. We’ll have fresh-popped pop corn on-site and drinks; you provide your own chair (if you forget, we’ll have one - it just won’t be as comfortable). The movie is free and open to Sienna’s Active Adults and guests, but you must RSVP in advance. Space is limited, so call 281/778-CLUB, or stop by Club Sienna today!
